Squeers is the first LGBTIQ comic strip published in a South African newspaper. The comic strip was published over a two year period in The Pink Tongue newspaper,
a subsidiary of one of South Africa's largest news publishing houses, Independant Media, with a print-run of over 14 000 copies. The comic strip features Neil and
Artel, two gay squirrels living in the oldest cultivated pear tree in the Cape Town Company’s Garden. The comic strip represents a humorous and underrepresented
perspective on 2000s LGBTI culture in the mother city through the eyes of a gay South African cartoonist.
A Zapiro tribute cartoon celebrating 20 years of South African democracy featuring Squeers, Neil and Artel and commisioned by Africartoons
for the Mail & Guardian newspaper. Published in the Mail & Guardian and featuring South Africa's top 12 published policitcal cartoonists and comics artists including myself.
